STEPS with Aubrey!

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s natural to want quick fixes and immediate progress, especially when we see our children struggling. However, meaningful skills that support children for a lifetime are built gradually, step-by-step.

At STEPS with Aubrey, I combine specialized tutoring with thoughtful educational planning to help children, adolescents, and parents make real, sustainable growth. I focus on identifying what each person needs and intentionally addressing every step of the learning process.

This philosophy is very personal to me. During moments of homework frustration or even when I faced more serious, overwhelming problems, my mother would often remind me of the quote by the Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” While I didn’t always appreciate this advice at the time, it became one of the most powerful mindsets that guided my own educational journey and shaped how I taught my students.

Even when challenges feel too difficult, growth becomes possible when we break things down into manageable steps. Whether we’re building lifelong literacy skills, strengthening executive functioning and social skills, or developing practical strategies for everyday life, my goal is to help families build strong foundations that last.

“Aubrey is an extraordinary educator – the kind of person every parent would wish for if they found their child in need of special education services and the kind of teacher every child deserves in their corner. She understands the complexity of the needs these children face, and she has a stunning way of making each person involved in the process, from her colleagues to students and their families, feel like they are her singular focus. She makes a vulnerable new world accessible to families, and I have witnessed time and time again how she has set these students up for incredible success. She is a life-changing educator.”
